Pastor Teddy Bujingo: Biography, Family, Businesses, Church and Net Worth

Pastor Teddy Bujingo, born Teddy Naluswa, is one of the best known women in Uganda’s church scene. She is the founder of Word of Salvation Ministries International and the former wife of Pastor Aloysius Bugingo of House of Prayer Ministries International. This article covers her background, marriage, ministry, businesses and estimated net worth.

Who Is Pastor Teddy Bujingo?

Pastor Teddy Bujingo is a Ugandan preacher, businesswoman and church founder. Her original name is Teddy Naluswa, and she is often written about as Teddy Naluswa Bugingo, a name that comes from her long marriage. Many Ugandans first came to know her as a co-founder and senior pastor beside her husband at House of Prayer Ministries. Today she leads her own church and runs several business interests in Kampala.

Age, Birthday and Early Life

She was born on 3rd March 1973 and is 53 years old. She comes from Bugiri District in eastern Uganda and belongs to the Basoga tribe, so she is a Musoga by tribe.

Family Background and Education

Her father was the late Professor James Naluswa, a forestry lecturer at Makerere University. Growing up in an academic household gave her an early exposure to discipline and learning. She completed her O Level, and after Senior Four she trained as a nursery school teacher, a qualification that shaped her early working life.

Marriage to Pastor Aloysius Bugingo

She married Aloysius Bugingo in 1992 and the two stayed together for close to three decades. Reports describe their early years as modest, and the couple built their ministry from humble beginnings. Together they founded House of Prayer Ministries International, which grew into one of the most recognized charismatic churches in Kampala, with a strong radio and television presence through Salt Media.

The couple have four children: three daughters, Doreen Gift, Winnie Treasure and Jennifer Blessed, and a son named Isaac. Several of the children have since gone on to higher education and professional careers.

The Separation and Divorce Dispute

The marriage became a national talking point in 2019. Pastor Bugingo filed for divorce, listing a number of grounds, and his relationship with Susan Makula became public around the same period. Teddy Naluswa opposed the petition in court, saying a church marriage is meant to last for life and that her husband had no valid reason to end it.

The case also involved questions of property. Her lawyer argued that the couple’s property was worth about Shs1 billion and should therefore be handled by the High Court’s Family Division rather than a lower court. Public remarks made about her during that time drew criticism from women’s groups, and the Uganda Communications Commission warned the pastor over offensive communication. Her name was later removed from the list of directors of House of Prayer Ministries International in 2022.

Founding Word of Salvation Ministries International

In January 2020 she launched her own church, Word of Salvation Ministries International. The launch marked a new chapter, moving her from a supporting role in her husband’s ministry to leading her own congregation. Reports at the time also said some pastors moved from House of Prayer Ministries to join her. The church focuses on preaching, prayer, family restoration and community support.

Business Interests and Income Streams

Beyond ministry, Pastor Teddy Bujingo is an active entrepreneur. Her reported businesses include:

Two cosmetic shops at Freedom City and another cosmetic outlet at Garden City in Kampala.

An import business, through which she brings in merchandise from abroad.

A business dealing in Japanese vehicle spare parts, a steady market in Uganda because of the large number of used Japanese cars on the road.

These businesses give her an income separate from the church and show a practical, trade-focused side to her public life.

Net Worth

Her net worth is estimated at around 500 million Uganda shillings. This figure comes from her reported shops, import trade and spare parts dealings, and it is an estimate rather than a verified financial statement.
